How to work with replies and objections
You get a reply and... lose it: you answer after 3 days (killed momentum), you write an essay instead of asking for a meeting, or you treat an objection as 'no' instead of as an opportunity. Meanwhile, a cold email reply is the rarest currency — you have to use it.
Taking replies in 4 steps:
- FAST: reply within <2h (during the workday) — momentum is key,
- THANK + REFER to the specific from their reply (shows listening),
- ONE QUESTION: clarify the context ('What's your current lead handling process?') or go straight to proposing a meeting ('Does 15 min on Thursday work?'),
- PROPOSE SOMETHING SPECIFIC: a calendar link. Objections and responses: 'PRICE' → 'I understand — I can show 2 scope options so you can see what pays off', 'TIME' ('no time') → '15 minutes is enough — I'll show, not sell', 'NOT NOW' → 'When is a good moment? I could reach out in [time]', 'SEND INFO' → 'Sure — but first 1 question so I send the right things: what's your biggest challenge in X?', 'WE DON'T NEED IT' → 'I understand. What doesn't fit at all — the problem or the solution?'. The rule: an objection is a request for more information — your job is to find out what's missing, not to push the offer. AI: helps write objection responses (3 variants, company voice), classifies replies (interested / objection / no) and proposes the next action.
A reply: 'Hi, thanks. Send info'. A bad reaction: you send a PDF offer. A good one: 'Sure — to send the right things: how do you track leads now — in a CRM or spreadsheets? And how many people are in sales?' [1 question]. After the answer: 'Thanks! Then I'll send 2 things: a case with an agency of similar size and a 1-page description. By the way — 15 minutes on Wednesday morning so I can show how it works at your place specifically?' [meeting]. The objection 'no time' → '15 minutes is enough — I'll show a concrete flow, zero selling. Thursday 10:00 or Friday?'.
You are a cold email reply advisor. Context: I ran a campaign [PRODUCT]. I got a reply: [PASTE THE REPLY]. My product/outcome: [OUTCOME]. Task: Propose a response: 1. Classification: interested / objection / no (and which objection) 2. A response (max 80 words): thank + reference to their words + 1 question OR a meeting proposal 3. 2 alternative variants (different approaches) 4. If an objection: how did you identify it and how do you answer the unspoken need 5. Next action: what after this reply Format: 5 sections.
Variations & alternative scenarios
'Send info' version: 1 question before sending instead of sending blind.
'Not now' version: re-sequencing after 2-3 months with a new trigger.
Practical exercise
Write responses to 4 objections: 'price', 'no time', 'not now', 'send info'. For one real reply (from history or fictional) write a response by the 4 steps.
