A 4-6 email sequence worth receiving

Cold Email 11 min
Business problem

A single send gives on average 3-5% replies — the rest comes from follow-ups (up to 30-40% of replies arrive after emails 2-4). But most people send 'reminders': 'I'm writing because I didn't get a reply' — zero value, the domain gets complaints, the campaign dies.

Proven method

The 4-6 email sequence structure:

EMAIL 1 (d0)
value + CTA (the structure from module 4),
EMAIL 2 (d3)
NEW value (a different perspective: another trigger, problem, outcome) + a reference to 1 ('I'm writing because...' — but with new content),
EMAIL 3 (d6)
proof — a case study, a number, an industry example,
EMAIL 4 (d10)
a new angle (e.g. a research trigger, a company change, seasonality),
EMAIL 5 (d14)
a soft close ('I'll close the topic for 6 months — reach out if it becomes a good time'). Rules: follow-ups MUST add value (none is a pure reminder), 3-4 day gaps (not daily), every email has a separate subject (not 'Re:'), every CTA is easy. After a reply: the sequence STOPS (don't keep sending). AI: generates each sequence email with different value, proposes follow-up angles from lead research, writes CTA variants.
Market example

A sequence for a performance agency:

M1 (d0)
trigger (new branch) + problem (leads in spreadsheets) + CTA (10 min).
M2 (d3)
new value — 'a client from the same industry recovered 15% of leads in 6 weeks' + a simple question.
M3 (d6)
case study — a concrete example with numbers.
M4 (d10)
another angle — 'I saw you're hiring ops — that usually means manual lead handling starts to hurt' + CTA.
M5 (d14)
close — 'I'll close the topic, reach out if the pipeline becomes a priority'. Statistically: 60-70% of campaign replies arrive on M1-M3.
Ready-to-use prompt
You are an email sequence architect.

Context: Campaign: [PRODUCT + OUTCOME + TRIGGER + PROBLEM]. Lead: [COMPANY + ROLE + RESEARCH].

Task: Design a 5-email sequence:
Email 1 (d0): value + CTA
Email 2 (d3): NEW value (another angle) — write the content
Email 3 (d6): proof/case study — propose what I could give
Email 4 (d10): another angle from research
Email 5 (d14): a soft close
For each: subject, content (<80 words), CTA. Mark what is NEW value (not a repeat).

Format: 5 emails.

Variations & alternative scenarios

Short version: 3 emails (value, case, close) for limited time.

Long version: 6 emails with variants by lead segment.

Practical exercise

Draw a 5-email sequence on paper (email + when + what new it brings). Write a draft of M2 (new value) and M5 (close). Check that no follow-up is a pure reminder.
