Today's Prospecting List and Why Now

Prospecting 8 min
Business problem

100 leads in the CRM, all 'interesting', you pick manually 'somehow'. The result: you contact the easiest (who replied), not the best (who's ready). Prioritization solves this firmly: you have a daily time limit, so the order of choice decides the results.

Proven method

Prioritization = sorting by score + time-to-close + effort:

  1. Sort leads by score descending,
  2. Split into 3 groups: Priority 1 (top 5, HOT, fresh signals — contact today), Priority 2 (next 15, WARM — sequence this week), Priority 3 (the rest, COLD — nurture/newsletter),
  3. For each Priority 1 lead add 'Why now?' — 1 sentence on why now (a fresh signal, hiring, expansion, a time window),
  4. AI generates a daily list in the morning: 'Today:
  5. Company A — hiring 3 salespeople (why now: they're growing, they need a system),
  6. Company B — ...'. The rule: the Priority 1 list must be SHORT (5 leads) — long lists kill focus.

BAD
Unstructured prospecting without ICP filters and generic outreach to random accounts.
GOOD
From 200 companies, after scoring: Priority 1 = 5 leads with score >85 and fresh signals. Why now: Company A — 'last week they hired 3 salespeople, 'call us' is the only channel on the site, they already have 2 reviews about slow response' (3 independent signals in 30 days). Company B — 'opened a branch in Gdansk, hiring ops'. You write to A and B today, the rest of Priority 2 goes into this week's sequence.

Task: Build the Today's Prospecting List:
Lead | Score | Signals (briefly) | Why now (1 sentence, why now) | Action (email/call/LinkedIn)

Take my list: [LIST OF LEADS: NAME, SCORE, SIGNALS]
List:
1. Priority 1: 5 leads — contact today, each with Why now
2. Priority 2: 15 leads — sequence this week
3. Priority 3: the rest — nurture
Justify each Priority 1 choice (why now, not later).

Variations & alternative scenarios

Large list version: AI proposes rules for automatic assignment to groups.

Team version: AI splits Priority 1 between salespeople by territory.

Practical exercise

Take your scored leads and split them into Priority 1/2/3. For the 5 Priority 1 leads write 'why now'. Plan 5 actions for today (email/call/LinkedIn).
